Squirrel reduces manual lot selection time during order processing and ensures consistent lot selection policies across your organization. The app automatically assigns lot numbers based on available inventory, item tracking configurations, and location-level allocation methods.
Flexible Allocation Strategies
Configure allocation methods at the location level to match your business requirements:
- Per order Increasing/Decreasing Quantity - Process each order separately, prioritizing smallest or largest quantities first
- Increasing/Decreasing Quantity - Process all lines across orders by quantity size
Combine location strategies with item-level lot selection methods:
- Oldest Batch (FIFO) - Select lots based on posting date for proper inventory rotation
- Smallest Batch - Prioritize depleting smaller lot quantities
Enhanced Visibility and Control
View allocated quantities directly on sales order lines, providing immediate visibility into which lines have received automatic lot assignments. The Lot Allocation Entries page allows you to review allocation results, filter lines that could not be allocated, and identify items requiring manual attention.
Control warehouse picking behavior with the "Only Pick Allocated Lines" option, ensuring warehouse staff only pick lines that have been allocated lot numbers.
How It Works
Run the Lot Allocation report to process released sales orders and transfer orders within a specified date range. The app identifies lines with outstanding quantities, calculates available inventory by lot, applies your configured allocation and selection methods, and creates reservation entries with lot numbers for successfully allocated lines.
The app skips lines that already have manual lot assignments or are on existing warehouse picking documents, and provides clear reporting on allocation results.
Requirements
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central version 26.0 or later
- Item Tracking functionality enabled
- Items configured with Item Tracking Codes that support lot/batch tracking
Setup
Configure Item Tracking Codes with lot selection methods (Oldest Batch or Smallest Batch). Enable lot allocation at the location level and select your preferred allocation method. The app integrates seamlessly with Business Central's standard Item Tracking, Warehouse Management, Sales Order, and Transfer Order functionality.
